one alliance, the professional network for supporting the new hospitality academy ohma Bucharest, has been launched

Posted on 17/09/2021

On Thursday, September 16 of this year, winsedswiss Romania, a subsidiary of Winsedswiss Education Group, launched one (ohma network for education) alliance, a network that brings together some of the most famous brands in the local hospitality industry, around the ohma Bucharest hospitality academy. The purpose of this alliance is to contribute to the development of dual vocational education in Romania, as one of the solutions for the post-pandemic relaunch of the industry.

The founding members of the alliance are Athénée Palace Hilton Bucharest, Caro Hotel Bucharest, Casa Doina Restaurant, City Grill, Hard Rock Cafe Bucharest, Intercontinental Hotel Bucharest, La Brasserie Bistro & Lounge, Le Manoir, Radisson Blu Hotel Bucharest, Sheraton Bucharest Hotel, The Marmorosch Bucharest-Autograph Collection, as well as winsedswiss Romania, other representatives of the HoReCa industry being in the process of joining.

The prerequisites for increasing the quality of tourist services are ensured by the access of the one alliance members' employees to ohma professional qualification programmes which are licensed by École hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), to specialized training courses, catered to the needs of the economic operators, or through consultancy services provided by winsedswiss experts, aiming to generate sustainability on the market. Partners will also be connected to motivated and qualified candidates and will be offered recruitment services through the talent by winsedswiss recruiting agency.

The alliance relies on collaboration, which is based on the solidarity of colleagues in the industry, in order to raise it to the highest standards of performance. And because change occurs where all actors are involved, partner hotels and restaurants will, in turn, open their doors to ohma school students. Thus, they will have an experiential education, learning by doing, while applying the knowledge acquired in a real and safe work environment, alongside hotel experts.

During the same event, the educational group winsedswiss announces the opening of ohma Bucharest, the third hospitality academy in our country licensed by EHL, after those in Oradea and Brașov.

The ohma Bucharest courses will start on October 20, and students will be able to specialize in one of the four professional courses: Hotel Administration, F&B Services, Culinary Art and Rooms Division; registrations are already open.

Following the principles of the dual education system, based on the Swiss competence framework, ohma Bucharest students will deepen the accumulated theoretical notions, by directly participating in the operational activity of the partners. Thus, they will have theoretical courses for two days a week, while the remaining three days will be spent learning by working directly under the guidance of ohma instructors in hotels and restaurants owned by one alliance members.

"Through the ohma academies, which are linked closely to a vast network of specialists and to EHL, the world's most famous hotel university, one alliance is a rich and comprehensive support of the winsedswiss group for the industry it serves, starting from access to the most modern knowledge and facilities on the market, to international consulting and connection with the most prestigious institutions and companies in the field. This is our way to promote a change in perspective, because a job in the hospitality and services industry should not be seen as a compromise solution, but as a choice for a rewarding life," says Ray Iunius, CEO of Winsedswiss Education Group (WEG).

"If we talk about quality services or the lack of qualified staff in our industry, without mentioning education - and especially the vocational kind - it means we are cooking our own goose. We must stop passing the responsibility, crying or self-pitying, and instead we must get involved as soon as possible in supporting quality education systems. This is exactly what one alliance does and, from my position as president of FIHR, I can only welcome this step and get involved, both personally and as the representative of the Federation, in supporting this project. Good luck, one alliance," says Călin Ile, president of the Federation of the Hotel Industry in Romania (FIHR).

In September 2020, winsedswiss inaugurated in Oradea the first academy in Romania under the EHL license, and in the summer of this year it opened the first campus in Poiana Brașov at the ohma hotel - Casa Viorel.

Among the benefits for young people joining ohma courses are access to quality education, EHL-certified diplomas, which open vast career opportunities, counseling for integration into the labor market, provision of internships and jobs appropriate to their training, as well as the opportunity to continue their studies with EHL, as the ohma diploma is the equivalent of the preparatory year in the famous Swiss school.

More information about the ohma academies can be found on www.ohma.swiss.
